Cleanup volunteers started on Jan 3.The 2015 WATR annual report lists our key accomplishments.  The most remarkable one was the removal of a record 4.25 tons of litter and debris from Jackson and Swain Counties waterways.  We encourage you to explore the report.  We could not have achieved what we did without our WATR volunteers and partnering groups.  Grantors included Jackson County Commissioners, Duke Energy, Cherokee Preservation Foundation, and Southwestern Commission.

The big challenge going forward is to raise gifts and memberships ($10,000) and get grants ($15,000) in 2016. Even if we meet these goals we will be in negative territory.   We have ideas but it will take hard work and devotion by our leaders and friends.

It was a hard-work year with plenty of joy to keep us going.
